“Russian Souvenir”- is a number of concerts dedicated to Russian classical music in Harpa Music Hall in Reykjavík, Iceland 2017-2018. You will hear an incredible collection of Russian musical masterpieces recognised by time and generations.
The program of the concert “Russian Souvenir” on 10th of September includes Russian pearls of romances as “Night Zephyr”, “Bloha”, “None but the lonely heart”, “Dream”, “Dark Eyes” and etc. of such genius composers as Mikhail Glinka, Pjotr Tchaikovsky, Modest Musorgsky, Sergei Rachmaninov and other outstanding composers which grabs the heart of the listener at the deepest level.
Authors of the program would be more than happy to guide you through the magnificent world of Russian romances and piano music of Russian music culture.This concert is a one of a kind opportunity to enjoy music compositions rarely performed outside of Russia.
Russian Souvenir is an invitation to visit a special, inaccessible world which takes the listener deep inside the Russian soul.
Vladimir Gerts (Basso)
As the owner of the beautiful and rich with overtones voice, after graduating from Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory(class A.A.Bolshakova and E.E.Nesterenko) Vladimir was invited to the famous Moscow Bolshoy Theather, where Pavel Lisician became his instructor. While working at the Bolshoy Opera Theater, Vladimir has mastered the main roles of classical bass repertoire played in operas Rossini, Prokofiev, Verdi and Mussorgsky.
From the mid 80-s, Vladimir becomes a soloist of the Moscow State Philarmonic. He took part in numerous international festival and competitions, among them: Russian – Canadian Festival “Russian winter” in Toronto 1997-1999, Musical Festival dedicated to A.Pushkin, Moscow, 1999.
Vladimir Gerts is co-operating with many cultural organisations as Russian Foundation of Culture, Program “New names”, Rossotrudnichestvo, he performed ethnographical programs in Jewish Cultural Centers in Europe. Asia, Africa, Canada and USA. He has performed to the audience in Russia, Germany, France, Hungary, Luxembourg, Spain, Chile, Brazil, India, Lebanon, USA.
Vladimir has taught with regularity master classes in Moscow House of Feodor Shalapin.
In March 2010 by the Russian Music Society label in the USA, Vladimir has released classical CD “Two Century of Russian Romances”.
Alexandra Chernyshova ( Soprano )
Alexandra is well known lyric coloratura soprano in Iceland. She made her way to the hearts of Icelanders through the beautiful crystal voice, sincere musicality and vivid stage presence. After Alexandra´s appearance as Violetta Valery in “La Traviata” by G.Verdi with the Icelandic Opera Skagafjardar company which she established in the North of Iceland in 2006, music critics said that “Miracles still happen”.
She graduated from Kiev State Music Institute by R.Glier, National State Kiev Linguistic Universtiy, Odessa National Music Academy by N.Nezdanova, Kiev Management of Education University and Listaháskóli Íslands. Alexandra sang with the Kiev National Radio and Television Orchestra, Kiev Academical Musical Theatre of Opera and Ballet for Youth, International Music Sacra Festival in Marktoberdorf in Germany, Rhodes International Opera Festival in Greece, International Opera Studio by Katja Ricciarelli in Italy, Opera Skagafjardar in Iceland, Icelandic symphony orchestra of the North, New York Contemporary Opera Festival, USA and Spring Music Art Festival in Japan. Alexandra was awarded Artistic salary from the Ministry of Culture and Education of Iceland, in 2008 and received the international prestigious award for her cultural achievement in Iceland – Top 10 Outstanding Young people of Iceland JCI, in 2014.Autumn 2016 opera composer Alexandra Chernyshova introduced her first opera “The Poet and the Bishop´s daughter” abroad to the demanding audience in Moscow Gnessin Academy. Spring 2017 Alexandra made her appearance in International Spring Music Art Festival in Japan, took part in the World Women Summit in Tokyo and made a presentation of her notebook with 14 songs from the Icelandic opera “The Poet and the Bishop´s daughter” on libretto Guðrún Ásmundsdóttir in Tokyo.
Alexandra published 3 solo CDs, among them Russian album with 11 romances by Sergei Rachmaninov “A Dream” accompanied by Icelandic legend – pianist Jónas Ingimundarson.
Currently, Alexandra works on her new composed opera “Northern Light fairy tale of Iceland” opera-ballet for children which will be shown 2nd of December at Harpa Music Hall.
Vadim Gladkov ( piano )
Graduated in 1997 from the Tchaikovsky National Music Academy (Soloist Diploma with the honourable mention), he furthered piano studies in the class of Professor Dmitri Bashkirov and Galina Egiazarova at the “Escuela Superior de Musica Reina Sofia”. Vadim Gladkov has been a winner of top prizes in many International Piano Competitions such as “Da Cidade do Porto”( Grand Prix and 2 special prizes); “M. Lysenko” (1st Prize and Gold Medal, Kiev); XII Ibiza Competition (1st Prize). Cooperating with well-known musicians as Natalia Gutman, Nicola Benedetti, Leonard Elschenbroich, Kaori Yamagami, Tatiana Melnichenko, his tours went through many prestigious halls like Santory Hall, Rudolfinum, Concertgebouw etc.
Mr Gladkov was the member of Jury in many International Competitions: “Ciudad de San Sebastian”, “Da Cidade do Porto”, “J. Chuluun” in Ulaan-Baator, “Anton Garcia Abril” (Teruel). Vadim Gladkov has a firm command of a wide range of solo piano repertoire as well as an avid interest in the chamber and vocal music. In 2005 he has recorded a CD (“Romantische Verwandlungen”) with H.-J. Schellenberger, G. Causse y R. Vlatkovic and in March 2008 with violinist Mayuko Kamio for SONY BMG.
In September 2000, Mr Gladkov began working at the «Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofia” as a collaborating pianist for the violin class of Prof. Zakhar Bron. Since 2014 Vadim is the permanent participant of Encore Music Projects (in Wells Cathedral School). Currently, he combines his performance activities with pedagogical work in Madrid, where he is a Professor of Piano at the Superior Center “Katarina Gurska”.

Tékkneski hornsnillingurinn Radek Baborak er einn fimasti einleikari heims á hljóðfæri sitt. Hann var aðeins 18 ára gamall þegar hann var ráðinn aðalhornleikari Fílharmóníuhljómsveitar Tékklands og hann gegndi einnig stöðu aðalhornleikara Berlínarfílharmóníunnar um sjö ára skeið. Frá árinu 2010 hefur hann helgað sig ferli einleikarans og kemur reglulega fram með tónlistarmönnum á borð við Daniel Barenboim og Seiji Ozawa. Hér leikur hann glæsilegan hornkonsert eftir Reinhold Gliére sem var kennari þeirra Prokofíevs og Katsjatúrjans.
Í tónlist Rakhmanínovs lifði andi síðrómantíkur langt fram á 20. öld. Kunnastur er hann fyrir tilfinningaþrungna píanótónlist sína en hljómsveitarverkin eru engu síðri. Sinfónískir dansar voru síðasta tónsmíðin sem Rakhmanínov lauk við fyrir andlát sitt, tilþrifamikið og meistaralega útsett verk þar sem hann sækir innblástur meðal annars í rússneskan kirkjusöng. Verk Þórðar Magnússonar er byggt á ljóði eftir Guðberg Bergsson og kallast auk þess á við lykilverk í íslenskri tónlistarsögu, Adagio eftir Jón Nordal, en verkin deila sömu hljóðfæraskipan.
