In the academic year 2018/2019 Iceland has been provided with one Russian state scholarship for foreign citizens for study in Russia.

Applicants can apply to study at the expense of federal budget allocations in accordance with the established quota of the Russian Federation Government, or at the expense of individuals and legal entities in accordance with the agreements for the provision of paid educational services.

Admitted students are granted scholarship (during all the period of education, not depending on the marks) and accommodation in a student dormitory on the same conditions as for Russian students.

Icelandic citizens have the right to federal scholarships for studying at preparatory departments or preparatory faculties of educational institutions where they will get training in the Russian language sufficient for taking a common professional education program in Russian. The preparatory course is one academic year. It is not included in the overall term for study at common professional education programs. The Ministry of Education and Science of Russia is competent in allocating students to preparatory departments or faculties.

Travel expenses are covered by an applicant. An applicant must be in possession of health insurance policy.

The list of courses and universities and information could be found at website http://russia.study. Every applicant may choose up to six universities (but no more than two in the same federal district of the Russian Federation, including Moscow and Saint-Petersburg.

The selection is carried out in two stages:

  • the first stage of selection is carried out by the Russian Embassy in Iceland
  • the second stage of selection is carried out by the Russian educational organizations, that are ready to take on the training foreign nationals, chosen among the candidates in the first phase.

The first stage involves:

  • gathering information on foreign nationals wishing to study in the Russian educational institutions (no later than March 19, 2018)

Russian Embassy in Iceland performs the selection in a foreign country with the use of electronic forms of documents in RUSSIA.STUDY system. The Embassy assists foreign citizens in providing information and consulting regarding selection and admission issues.

A foreign citizen should register in RUSSIA.STUDY to pass the selection procedure whether he or she plans to study at the expense of federal budget allocations in accordance with the established quota of the Russian Federation Government, or if he or she plans study at the expense of individuals and legal entities in accordance with the agreements for the provision of paid educational services.

To be invited for academic competitions, a foreign citizen should only full in a form correctly, submit passport scan to the RUSSIA.STUDY system.

  • competitive selection

Russian Embassy in Iceland in order to organize competitive selection creates a working group. The group representatives promptly notify foreign nationals via RUSSIA.STUDY about a date, time, place, and circumstances of competitive selection.

Russian Embassy in Iceland publishes the competitions results on RUSSIA.STUDY, notify foreign nationals on those results and create a list of candidates. Foreign citizens included in the list of candidates in RUSSIA.STUDY write a profile and sends it for review. All profiles are considered timely by Russian foreign-based institutions. Based on the complete results and Russian overseas institutions make a new candidate list and sent it to the main office of Rossotrudnichestvo and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.
